Being dysregulated means your autonomic nervous system has shifted into a state — activated (fight/flight) or shut down (freeze/collapse) — faster or more intensely than the actual situation calls for, and you can't easily bring yourself back down (or up) using thought alone. It is not a character flaw, a sign of weakness, or "just anxiety." It's your body running a survival response that was built for danger, in a moment that isn't actually dangerous.
